2020 Toyota Camry
The Toyota Camry is a staple in the reliable family sedan segment, and in 2020, its appeal has only gotten stronger. This practical and stylish four-door now offers a performance-oriented TRD trim level for those who crave a little more excitement. Certain versions can also now be ordered with all-wheel drive, and Android Auto finally makes its highly anticipated debut.
Trim and Powertrains
The 2020 Toyota Camry is available in six trim levels: L, LE, SE, XLE, XSE, and TRD. Most of these are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 203 horsepower and 184 pounds-feet of torque. On the XSE, this same engine puts out an additional 3 hp and 2 lb.-ft. of torque. The XLE and XSE are eligible for an engine upgrade to a robust 3.5-liter V6 (301 hp and 267 lb.-ft. of torque). An eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard across all trims, but AWD is available on the LE and higher trims with the base (four-cylinder) engine.
Comfort and Convenience
The L is equipped with the essentials, such as power windows, fabric seats, and remote keyless entry. The LE adds a power-adjustable driver’s seat and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, while the sportier SE gets an athletic exterior trim, a sport-tuned suspension, automatic climate control, simulated-leather seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters. There’s also an available SE Nightshade Edition that’s set apart by its sleek blacked-out exterior. The LE and SE are eligible for two optional bundles: the Convenience Package (keyless entry and ignition and an auto-dimming rearview mirror) and the Audio Upgrade Package (dual-zone automatic climate control and the equipment from the Convenience Package). A sunroof is also available separately. The XLE and XSE both get the features found in the Audio Upgrade Package, plus leather upholstery and heated front seats.
On 2020 Toyota Camrys ordered with the all-wheel drivetrain, a Cold Weather Package is offered to provide different upgrades according to trim level: heated seats and side mirrors on the LE; heated seats, mirrors, and a steering wheel for the SE; and a heated steering wheel on the XLE and XSE. At the top of the heap is the TRD, which takes the SE’s standard equipment and adds the V6 powertrain, improved brakes, a TRD-tuned suspension, keyless entry and ignition, a panoramic sunroof, and selectable drive modes. Performance tires can also be added.
Safety and Technology
Every version of the 2020 Toyota Camry is supplied with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver assist features. This includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, and dynamic radar cruise control. The LE and SE can include a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert via the Convenience Package mentioned above. The XLE and XSE add that, as well as full-speed range dynamic cruise control. Intelligent clearance sonar is available for the XLE and XSE.
The L is set up with a 7-inch touchscreen interface, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system, a USB port, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Both the LE and SE add another USB port and become eligible for the Audio Upgrade Package (an 8-inch touchscreen upgrade and wireless smartphone charger). The XLE and XSE get a larger driver information display and are eligible for integrated navigation and a premium nine-speaker JBL audio system through the Navigation Upgrade Package. The TRD has the same standard features as the SE, plus eligibility for the Navigation Upgrade Package.
