To make a used Toyota model certified pre-owned, it all begins in our on-site service facility. Each Toyota must first pass a 160-point inspection in order to offer the certified pre-owned benefits.

This inspection covers every component you could think of in a model. The electrical systems, the performance, the safety—it’s a comprehensive look at the entire vehicle. Each Toyota has to pass this exam with flying colors.

One of the other requirements is the presence of a clean CarFax® Vehicle History Report™. We first use this report to determine how well the model has been taken care of over time. Because reliability is such a sticking point for certified pre-owned models, we want to be aware of any past accidents while also knowing the Toyota has been properly serviced over time.

If the car passes the inspection and has a clean vehicle history, it receives the title of Toyota Certified Pre-Owned!
