There are nine trim levels offered for the 2021 Toyota Corolla. Most of these trims are entirely unique, yet one does come with a similar feature list but a hybrid powerplant instead of the non-hybrid option.
To start, there’s the L trim: This standard Corolla is loaded with safety and infotainment technology. Then, there are the LE and the Hybrid LE trims, which are followed by the SE, the SE Nightshade Edition, and the SE Apex Edition. To round out the trim list, you can select the XLE, the XSE, or the fully loaded XSE Apex Edition.
Driving a compact car doesn’t mean you have to endure a tight, compact interior. The Toyota Corolla is the ideal example of a small car that understands how to create interior space.
All passengers will be comfortable in either row thanks to 38.3 inches of headroom in the front seats and 37.1 inches in the rear seats. There’s also 42 inches of front legroom and 34.8 inches of legroom in the back. Seating people side by side comfortably is possible as well courtesy of 51.7 inches of shoulder room and 51.3 inches of hip room in the back seats.
Total passenger volume is a stately 88.6 inches. And when it comes time to fit supplies in the trunk, you’ll have 13.1 cubic feet of cargo room.
Various engine options, drive modes, drivetrains, and transmissions allow you to create the exact version of the Toyota Corolla you want.
Engine options include a pair of 1.8L offerings, generating either 121 or 139 horsepower, while the larger 2.0L motor boasts 169 horsepower. Depending on how you configure your Corolla, the drive modes may include Normal, Power, Sport, and ECO.
There’s also the matter of the transmission. A Continuously Variable Transmission is common and can be had with dynamic-shift capability for more athleticism if you prefer. There’s also a slightly different electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission. Finally, the Corolla is one of the few cars remaining with the option to row your own gears courtesy of a 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission.
The Toyota Corolla is flexible enough to be anything you want. You can choose performance features that make it athletic or more efficient, plus trims that significantly alter its interior and exterior styling.
